Indeed, this is some kind of 'good news' in the sense
that it could be possible that this kind of jails are completely over in
the future. This is not up to me, but it sure is something I would like to
see materialize in the (short) future. Most understand that this can only
be done if there is some kind of good 'follow up' after the war. And I am
well aware of the fact a lot of my readers will shout 'But look at the way
the Americans messed up in Afghanistan!'. But you are completely wrong my dear reader, the follow up in Iraq will be different. You can trust me on that (simply because there will always (Iraqi) pilots or so willing to 'help the story' a little bit in the future). Why do I call this little part 'Bad News'? Simply because there is a small possibility that this kind of prisons will not be abandoned, oh oh Iraqi people watch a bit out... Wiping out White Lion stuff is some good news of course!
Follow
up different this time? Yes, it will be different. But how different this
will be I am not sure of right now, from the American side sound like 'Not a
penny to the coalition of the UN-willing' are heard. Only 'coalition
companies' allowed on the list to 'rebuild Iraq'. But first you must get used to the freedom that democracy can bring, can you stand individual freedom without falling in too much anarchy? Let me wish you luck, and if you don't get organized may be this kind of jails come back. Just feel your backbone and do not be afraid to kick some american arse (just look at me....). Now I quote the 'good news':
Iraqis tour half-demolished jail 'of evil'Secret police reported to have used jail for tortureWednesday, April 9, 2003 Posted: 2:55 AM EDT (0655 GMT)BASRA, Iraq (AP) -- Iraqis showed journalists a white stone jail where they claim Saddam Hussein's secret police for decades tortured inmates with beatings, mutilations, electric shocks and chemical baths. The jail, known as the "White Lion," was charred and half-demolished Tuesday after two days of bombing by British forces fighting for control of Basra, Iraq's second- largest city. For the cameras, two men re-enacted how jailers allegedly tortured prisoners. ___________________________________________
